Swedish Massage, or Classic Massage, is the most common type of massage to relieve muscle tension and is extremely relaxing. It is usually performed on the full body and is a gentle massage with long, soft strokes and circular motions with kneading and light tapping on the muscles along with gentle joint manipulation. It is good for stimulating nerve endings and increasing blood flow and lymph drainage.
Your massage therapist will massage you, front and back, using oil or lotion. You can ask your therapist to use light, medium or firm pressure and tell her which areas may be more tense, needing more attention. If you have tension in your neck, back or shoulders from the daily grind, this may be the massage for you.
